Simpli Plug was born out of a simple observation: EV charging management has become unnecessarily expensive.
While working within the electrical engineering industry, our founder noticed a recurring problem for residential buildings and workplaces. Property managers were being quoted subscription fees as high as $25 per month for every single charging port—often for features that were never used.
We believe that managing an EV charger shouldn't cost more than the electricity it uses. We decided to build a solution that removes the monthly "tax" on going electric.
Built for Business
Simpli Plug is a B2B platform. We work exclusively with registered businesses and non-profit organizations — condo corporations, HOAs, property managers, and fleet operators — not individual EV owners.
This isn't a limitation, it's by design. Carbon credit markets, bulk hardware procurement, and revenue-sharing only make sense at the scale of a building or organization, not a single charger. Keeping our customer base entirely B2B lets us build pricing and incentives around real operational volume, which is what makes the rest of our model — low fees, shared carbon credit revenue, bulk hardware savings — possible in the first place.

We don't reinvent the wheel. Our platform runs on CitrineOS, an open-source, OCPP-compliant charging management system already built and maintained by a broader community. We're not carrying the cost of a proprietary backend built from scratch — and you're not locked into one either.
We're lean by design, not by necessity. A small team, low overhead, and hardware-agnostic software mean we have fewer fixed costs to pass on to you. There's no expensive infrastructure forcing us to charge more just to break even.
Your subscription isn't our main source of revenue. Carbon credit revenue sharing and bulk hardware procurement (see below) are built to matter more to our bottom line than monthly fees ever will. That means we don't need to squeeze subscription prices to stay viable — we do better when you save, not just when you pay us.
Bulk Hardware Procurement
Beyond software, we help organizations buy networked chargers in bulk, at prices individual buyers can't access on their own. These are open, networked chargers — not locked into a proprietary app or a single vendor's system. They'll work with Simpli Plug or any other OCPP-compliant charging management platform you choose.
Here's how it works: when enough organizations register interest in the same purchase window, we combine those orders and negotiate directly with manufacturers — passing the savings of a large order on to you, without you needing to source 50+ units yourself.
